Jake and Cassie’s wedding day Savage, MN

As I sat down to blog about this couple and this wedding, the only thing that came to mind was that these two are made for each other, meant for each other, so in love with each other. That is what this couple is and more, but its one of those things that is really hard to describe, so I took pictures of it instead! I feel like they look like they are the only two people in the world when they look into each others eyes. I love when couples are open to doing funny poses, and out-of-the-norm but also really like the traditional shots too. Cassie, I am a huge fan of the blue shoes! That pop of color is so exciting, different and worked so well with this wedding! I am so glad I was able to capture Cassie dancing with her Father-In-Law. He told me he had to dance with the bride, so grabbed his sombrero and went to dance with her…So hilarious! (Check it out below!) The kiddos did such a great job smiling and making funny faces!

Jake is in active duty military and was transferred to Texas, they moved just after their wedding! Thank you to you Jake, your family and all of those people who serve our country. It is always an honor to meet those who put our lives and country before their own. Again, I really appreciate all that you do!

This was such a beautiful wedding, your photos turned out amazing (despite the crazy wind!) and I hope that you cherish them for many many years to come!

Chase and Leah’s Magical Wedding ~ Lake Minnetrista Regional Park Chanhassen, MN

Meet Chase and Leah, the beautiful, enchanting couple I recently met for their wedding! When I first arrived to this fabulous outdoor wedding, the storm clouds (you can see a few in the first couple photos) were rolling in…Luckily, they kept rolling by and the entire wedding was nothing but blue skies! In my opinion, this was one of the most relaxed, go-with-the-flow weddings I have ever been a part of. After getting to know them better, I realized it completely fits their style. These two are definitely meant for each other! I loved how they had a relaxed yet elegant reception, with anyone else, this would be hard to pull off but these two completely NAILED IT. Can I just, say genius on the pizza you guys?! Um, I am still raving to everyone I know about that AMAZING baked potato pizza… YUM!!! Shout out to Pizza Luce, you have some delicious food. If you have never had their pizza I strongly, strongly suggest trying it! Chase and Leah, this was a beautiful wedding, I hope to share many more amazing memories with you and your family. Congrats again!

Lindsey & Jesse’s offbeatbride.com Article ~ With Jessica Wilson Photography!!!

I am so excited! One of my gorgeous brides recently submitted her wedding story to offbeatbrides.com and they LOVED her wedding story and her photographs done by me! I really had a great time at this wedding, they are such an amazing couple and I just loved how they had their wedding exactly how THEY wanted it! Loring Pasta Bar and Varsity Theater in Minneapolis is such a great location for weddings, and photos! It was so much fun for me to move them around to all the different vintage-y walls, doorways and props!
Please go check out her story, I hope it inspires and encourages you in your wedding planning!

Ranch Engagement Session ~ Windy Ridge Ranch in Woodbury, MN

Oh my goodness. I pulled up to Windy Ridge Ranch in Woodbury, MN a couple weeks ago for an engagement session and ideas just started exploding in my head. I will try and set the scene for you, but there are some things that cannot be described in words, thats why I take photos!

It was absolutely breathtaking. As I turn into the ranch, it is onto a dirt road (dirt roads are always a plus) then, to the left is a beautiful field with some gorgeous trees just waiting to have pictures taken by them. To make this an even more perfect location, the sun sets right behind the hill and I couldn’t ask for anything better. As I pull all the way up the drive I see the barns and girls out riding their horses. Everything was just picture perfect. Did I mention the chickens roaming freely all over the property? That was fun (city girl here)! But wait! It gets better! We took a stroll out into the pasture…. Even more breathtaking, literally had to remind myself to breathe. Hills and trees and horses!!! Lots and lots of horses!!!

So we are walking out into the pasture and my bride-to-be Heather tells me Charles (her fiance) is afraid of horses! I stop in my tracks-WAIT, WHAT?! Now I am thinking, how is this going to work? Throughout the shoot I could really see his love and passion for Heather, and when it came to the horses, lets just say he was a trooper. I promise I was not laughing at him, I was laughing WITH him! As I was taking pictures and even now as I go through them, I realized how much he really loves and cares for Heather, to face his fears for her and still smile, now that has to be love!

Next, this beautiful horse in the pictures deserves a meet and greet! Meet Sage! Sage has been a part of Heathers life for (if I remember right) 15 years! It just wouldn’t have felt right to not include her in all of Heathers special occasions. Speaking of special occasions, Miss Sage will be making her appearance again on Heather and Charles’s wedding day coming this September! They are getting married just a couple miles away at a beautiful barn, so it is definitely a must-do to stop by and include Sage in some pictures on their big day too! I can’t wait to capture your wedding day!

Behind the Scenes, Wedding Style ~ Red Wing, MN

I was adding finishing touches to this gorgeous wedding session that I shot in March at the St.James Hotel in Red Wing, MN and found this gem. The moment I saw it I giggled to myself because it brought me right back to that day, to that moment I clicked the button on my camera. I smiled as I thought back…

I was trying to figure out how in the world do I fix that curtain way up there. Stand on a chair? No… its not high enough. Stand on a table? No….. its still not high enough. So the monkey in me was like, “should I jump up there? But what if I fall and break a wrist? I won’t be able to shoot this wedding then!” Normally, I don’t get scared to do stuff like that but do you see how small that ledge is?!

All of a sudden, one of her bridesmaids says “watch out, I got this!” She then proceeds to kick off her slippers and shimmies her way up there like a pro! Seriously, I love moments like this! One, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this shot of her in mid motion going to fix the curtain. She did it with such elegance and grace (two things I wouldn’t have had jumping). And Two. We got the perfect dress shot with out me having to Photoshop the curtains. Win win for everyone!

I just had to share that little fun tid-bit of a behind the scene at this fabulous wedding!

Congratulations again to Chris and Katie!
