Oliver Turns 2 & A Big Brother Announcement! ~ Harriet Island Minneapolis, MN

One of my favorite things about being a photographer is that I get to hear news about people before anyone else, because they want a photo to be the announcement! That is exactly what happened just before this session, Mom asked if we could add a couple extra shots to announce some BIG news.

But first, meet Mr. Oliver! He is a two-year old bundle of energy, doesn’t have time to sit still, let alone smile, but we still managed to get some amazing shots! (quoted from his Mom) He LOVES trains right now and is just young enough that he will have no idea playing on railroad tracks are dangerous and should never be near them without a grown up (Mom was in a big hurry to get off them for this reason). This boy gets the cutest smile when you ask him to meow like a cat- there was a lot of meowing happening! Though he won’t remember, or think it’s that awesome when he is older, this was HUGE news, since they had been trying for a while to give him a sibling…or siblings… Please see their full story below!

You are seeing that right- TWO bundles of joy!

Full Story From Olivers Mom:

Oliver turned 2 at the end of June, and much to our surprise, we found out that he was going to be a big brother! We had been trying for over a year for a sibling, and had basically lost hope, this was going to be our last month to try for baby 2, so we were very excited to finally be pregnant.

We went in for ultrasound to find out how far along we were. The tech turned on the screen and said, “this baby is measuring at 8 weeks.” I interrupted her and said, “so you just see one?” (why would she say this baby?) She smiles and moved the little thing then says, “and baby B is measuring 8 weeks as well!”

My heart started pounding and I looked at her and said, “you only see A and B right, no C in there anywhere?” She laughed and said, “nope I only see two.” I looked and Josh, who was wrangling a very restless Oliver. His eyes were huge and he turned to stare at the screen, speechless (which most people know is weird for him). I was trying really hard to breathe and slow my heart down, but I just could not believe it- TWO we were going to be a family of 5 (well 6 if you count our dog Lexie). I didn’t think it was possible we could even have one more, yet there we were, the tech rattling off what she is doing and I can’t hear her because I just found out, we are having twins. TWINS!

I knew I wanted Jessica to be a part of this, so I asked her to add these couple extra photos and allow me to share my story on her blog. I was ecstatic that she said YES and couldn’t wait to do them! Thank you so much Jessica for capturing these for our family, cannot wait to see what other fun ideas you have for our little family of 5!
